BPD ‘Islay Cask #2’ is the second release from Battery Point Distillery matured in casks from two of the heavy hitters of Scottish Single Malt Whisky, Laphroaig and Lagavulin, with a dash of second fill Port and Sherry Cask for balance.
All of the subtle peat character comes from the casks, there is no addition of peated grain, just an extra layer of complexity coming with some extra time in these unique barrels.
Pale blonde in colour, it has notes of nougat, manuka honey, peanut brittle and some smokey bacon undertones on the nose.
Werther’s original caramels, maple syrup, and pine needles on the palate, finishing with peat smoked almonds – it’s dusty, sweet and a little smokey.
